Ok so I know a lot of you loved this book. I love Patch no wait... I am in love with Patch (really what is with the name though? I think there was a character on Days of Our Live back in the late 80's whose name was Patch) but the book was only good for me and not great! Sorry girls don't hate me!

I just have to add that the only thing that would have made Patch any more attractive would be if he had tattoos. Oh wait that's V...true?

OMG, Jenn, Patch and Kayla from Days of our Lives! 'Member they were fired and then came back?? I used to love them!

I can't think of a less attractive name them Patch. Seriously. Patch Adams, anyone?

Ooohhh...this Patch is like V? Really? I have heard some mixed reviews about Hush, Hush. But the only way I can read it is if I buy it. Is it worth buying?

Ugh! The cheapest is AUD$14.90. I think I'll wait til it comes out on MMP. Then it's only AUD$9.20. Have I mentioned before that I'm jealous you guys can get cheap books there?

Jayne, Robin Williams and sexy in the same sentence is so wrong on so many levels. I'm ashamed to admit I couldn't get past the first 10 minutes of Patch Adams!

And the fact that there's a real Patch Adams who believes that laughter is important medicine and treating the spirit and not just the disease, I think is great.

Oh yes, I remember Patch and Kayla! I loved them very much, but not as much as Bo and Hope! Oh the saga!!!!!! It's probably still going on!

Agreed, name is lame, but I adore the character.

I was thinking about Patch and Nora today and I think what bothered me about the book and their relationship was that it felt to me like Patch was too old for her. I did not feel that way about Edward and Bella but Patch felt a little darker and more rough and it felt hard for me to beleive that he only wanted to "kiss" Nora and call me old but Nora was too young for anything else.

Maybe it is just because I was jealous becuase I kept felling like yelling Pick Me! Pick Me! or it could be that he felt like V to me and so I related to him as more of an adult character and not a YA character!

2) Serenity Vol. 1: Those Left Behind by Joss Whedon

I loved Patch and Kayla too! I still remember how after Patch "died" and they were about to bury him, it was shown that his coffin was empty, so we knew he'd have to come back someday!

3) The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

Annnnnndddd....? Did you love it?? Didja?!?

Sorry I didn't post my review of The Name of the Wind earlier but it was one of those books that I needed to let settle.

I really love this book. It is probably one of the most well written books I have read. I found it to be very dense, much like when you eat something very good but it sits in your stomach for a while. The book is all story with little to no padding. Because of this I found that it would take me a while to digest each section that I would read and the fact that it was 720 pages it took me a while to get through. This book is the first one of what is going to be 3 books (I think). The second one is not even done being edited by Rothfuss so it is going to be a while before we get to the second day. It is hard to describe this story and much better if you just read it but I do have to say that I think Kvothe is probably my favorite hero of all time!

I liked this book. It was hard, hard, hard to read and in the beginning I was not sure I was gonna make it through.

I can not get some of the things she describes in the first part of the book out of my head. I need to find some fluff to read stat!

I have Living Dead Girl on my tbr too but I may take it off because I am not sure I can handle it after reading The Lovely Bones.

I haven't yet read this book but seeing the previews for the movie, I figured it was going to be a hard book to read. I need fluffier books right now. I'm too scared to read anything that's going to make me go: "WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

Apparently, he had written all 3 books in row and each book was supposed to come out one year after the other. But of course, as it goes with most fantasy writers, it takes years and years and years before the next book is published. I think the second book is supposed to finally come out the end of this year.

I loved the book so much too, but I had a bit of a problem with the last few chapters. I wish I could put my finger on it, but it was like the author switched the tone completely and ended up staging a pretty weak setup for the next part of the story.

Living Dead Girl is VERY heavy and so heartbreaking and disturbing...I was cringing the whole time I read it and wanted to quit reading it multiple times. Having said that though, it is a very well written and eye opening book that certainly has it's place in YA literature and I'm glad that I read it but it is a difficult one to read and not one that I would read again. I would have a hard time recommending it to anyone without warning them of the content first. If you had a hard time with Lovely Bones, this may be a book you want to reconsider.

I actually got on and read his blog. He stated that he is still working on corrections. It was actually a funny breakdown of why it is taking to long. It had something to with poop in cereal. I know you just have to read it for yourself!

I fetl that way towards the end of the book too but I just figured it was because I was ready to be done. It was so long and so dense I was ready to move on to something else. I loved the story but needed to do other things with my brain and that book was keeping me from doing that. I am a little scared that Kvothe's story is going to get even sadder and man there were times in this that I felt my heart being torn out!

Thank you Melis! Maybe what I will do is leave it on my tbr and if several months from now I am ready to read it I will do it then. It sounds like it might be worth it to read it but just when I an ready and clear about what I am getting myself into!

I have started an Erin McCarthy book which is total fluff and that seems to clearing up my head a little. I was worried there for a while The Lovely Bones was going to give me nightmares. If I can get some fluff in between the heavy stuff I can usually do more heavy stuff.

I went on his blog too (seemed like it was only charity updates the last few months), but I missed the poop in cereal excuse! ^o^

I was ready to read more and more and more and the ending just kinda petered out...But I agree, I think there is a lot more sad stuff to come in Kvothe's story!

LOL Okay, to be fair, so I missed that Jenn P said it was 720 pages! I could kill someone with this book! Hmm...I may need to renew this one a few times at the rate I'm reading at the moment. Sorry Jayne! If you have it in paperback you may also need a magnifier. Oh and just think that is only 1/3 of the story. Thank goodness he didn't make it all one book.

Also remember the first part is a little slow but picks up speed and then never stops.

6) A Date with the Other Side by Erin McCarthy

This is the same author that does the Vegas vampire series. I have not read them but they seem to be everywhere. I found this book enjoyable and exactly what I needed after reading The Lovely Bones. Ahhh good old fashion romance. There are two books in this series and this is the first one. I will be reading the second one when I can find it for cheap.

7) Fray by Joss Whedon


LOVED IT!!!! I really enjoyed everything about this graphic novel. I loved the story and I really loved the art! She is a slayer about 200 years after Buffy. Now I am going to go back and read the Buffy graphic novels!

Jenn, I LOVED Buffy. It's still my favorite show of all time. I read one book, but it wasn't a graphic novel. I may have to check it out. I love Joss Whedon!

Viola - I highly recomend it if you LOVE Buffy! Fray is even more kick ass!

8) The Death Collectors by Jack Kerley

I am enjoying this mystery/thriller series. The two main characters are male which I am enjoying. I like that it is a break from tuff female law enforcement characters that make up most of the books that I read in this genre. The stories are entertaining and there is even a little romance.

9) Bunnicula: A Rabbit-Tale of Mystery by Deborah & James Howe

Not really sure I should count this as it is only 95 pages but I love this book. I have not read this since being an "adult" and loved that I found it funny enough as an adult to laugh out loud and still have it be one of my fav books of all time!

I agree, Bunnicula is one of favorites too : ) I love the scene with the sour ball!

Viv - That was one of the scenes that had me laughing out loud. Harold and Chester both were sarcastic enough that I think that is what made it funny to me now. As a child I loved that there was a vampire bunny and that a dog was telling the story!

Gah! I just had an awesome idea... I might need to write a romance featuring vampire bunnies... Actually, I think just the guy will be a vampire... and he'll have to hid it from the girl bunny... *EXCITED!!!*

Anyway... I think I also love what complete/distinct characters Harold and Chester are : )

10) Vampire Knight Vol 9 by Matsuri Hino

I think if I hadn't watched the anime I would have been lost. This one was a little hard to follow. Not my favorite volume.

11) Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach

This book had a lot of potential. The first few chapters are about donating your body for science and the different ways it is used. The author stayed on track through the first couple of chapters but she increasingly would get off track on sublects that had little to do with the subject of the book. I liked her scarcastic comments and found them really funny but it often took away from the credibility (sp) of the book.

P.S. I don't think I'll read your last book. Just thinking about that subject kind of freaks me out. I saw a BODIES exhibit at MOSI(Museum of Science and Industry) down here and was kind of creeped out. I can only imagine what the book would do. Definitely a good thing I never attempted to get into the medical field.

Loved it. I was so excited to for this book to come out and was glad I wasn't disappointed. This is a side character book from her main In the Grave (Nighthuntress) series. One of the things I really liked about this book was that it had the main characters and several other secondary characters from the regular series. There is another side book coming out this summer.
