Winners for July
OK guys thanks to Lyn M., we now have a tie breaker. Please nominate a book for July in both categories:Cat. 1 - Independence Day
Cat. 2 - I Forgot Day
You can choose one book for each category. Start the nominations!
I've got 2 for #1 - 1776 and Rise to Rebellion: A Novel of the American Revolution. I've been wanting to read both for a while now! As for #2..... one of my all time favorite books I'd love to reread is The Book of Laughter and Forgetting.
Okay, I've never heard of this book before, but it looks like it has potential:The Land That Time Forgot
Here are mine: Rise to Rebellion: A Novel of the American Revolution by Jeff Shaara
Believe it or not, I can't come up with something for I forgot day. Does it have to have forget or some form in the title? I know, I picked it, but what can I say.
I am having trouble too LOL. I say pick what you want. Maybe with "Remember" "loss" "lost" in the title? Does that make sense?
That helps Donna - here is my second one, and yes, it is all MY fault. OOH, but I have one that has forgot - I just remembered it, lol (pun intended):
The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton
I forgot about "The Forgotten Garden" (I seriously did!) I second it! Anna said that it's awesome and it's on my TBR list.I'm at a loss for Independence Day?
Jennifer nominated:Cat. 2 - The Town That Forgot How to Breathe: A Novel by Kenneth J. Harvey
and
Cat. 1 -Independence Day: A Broken Heart's Voyage Around the USA by Jim Keeble
I say for Independece Day just look for somthing that celebrates American in some form. Does that make sense?
I would love to read The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton! Of course, I voted for Independence Day...really should have voted for "I Forgot Day," since it is a holiday that does not hold pleasant memories for me.
I was thinking of that one too, Irene. Also, The Forgotten Garden has been nominated 3 times...Do I smeel an early winner????
2 more days to nominate and then on Monday we will start the voting. So if you have any ideas, here is where to tell them!

I was just coming over here to nominate The forgotten garden.....lol! I guess I'll nominate something else to make it intresting. How about The Book of Lost Things Lost is similar to forgetting to me.
Also Long Walk to Freedom: The Autobiography of Nelson Mandela I just really admire Nelson Mandella and his story.
The Forgotten Garden, was an incredible book in my opinion. The best part about it for me was that I was just perusing (sp?) at Target and picked up this book and had not heard the first thing about it and I was like this sounds good and tossed it into the cart. Well, I got home and I could not put it down, I had it done in 2 days flat. It was just a neat story, but I love historical fiction mysterys, so that is probably part of why I enjoyed it so much.I don't know about the book selections, let me think about it, I just wanted to comment on The Forgotten Garden!
Well then, you will get a head start! I will put up the poll on Monday so there is still time to nominate a boo for either or both categories.
okay, I nominate:The Island at the Center of the World: The Epic Story of Dutch Manhattan and the Forgotten Colony That Shaped America
and
Bold Spirit: Helga Estby's Forgotten Walk Across Victorian America
YAYA!!! I have 1776 and have been wanting to read The Forgotten Garden. Now I just have to find a copy.
I'm on the waiting list for The Forgotten Garden! I've been wanting to read 1776, so hopefully I'll get to that one too. That might go really well since I've been living in 1769-1770 America lately! :)
I am so behind. I am going to try to get all the book club reads in this month. I still ahve to read June's 2 books and July's one book!

Donna wrote: "Oh well, I guess! I plan on reading them. That's gotta stand for something!!!!"I do too, though I had better get going - I can't keep renewing them from the library forever :)
I only have one from the library which is Wedlock. The others are just collecting dust on my shelves!
I'm behind also! All of my reading groups start discussion on the 1st of every month- that might have something to do with it;0)I plan to start The Forgotten Garden on Monday (if all goes as planned) I can't wait it sounds sooo good!
Amazon said it was shipped but it was coming from the UK so I assume it will be here soon but I still can't start it until I read Wedlock and The Zahir!
Have you ever ordered books from The Book Depository (UK)? They do not charge S/H, regardless of the price. My copy of The Forgotten Garden was only $ 8.49.
